This is Dorito Gook, according to my mother and my grandmother before her…and that would actually be my Dad’s mom.
When my parents got married, my grandmother showed my mother how to make this family favorite and it quickly became one of Momma’s most requested dishes (along with her Chicken Spaghetti). Alas, you’re not getting the recipe today…it will come out later, as part of my Birthday series on The Epicurious Texan. All you need to know is that for me, this tastes like home and no matter what mood I’m in or what kind of day I’m having, this always brings me back to my favorite place on earth: home.
